A simple guide to bring your bedroom to life

Bedrooms are where we tend to spend most of our time to relax and reboot ourselves. A well-organized bedroom that is aesthetically pleasing to you can help lift your mood on the most hectic of days. A great tip to enhance and refresh the ambiance of your room is by adding some essential bedding pieces. Here is a small guide to help you pick all the necessary bedding you require.

Where to start?

First off, decide what fabric you most prefer. A great way to go is for an everyday sheet is either linen or cotton as they are easy to clean and last longer. Focus on the feeling you want to create when someone walks into your bedroom. For a more clean and minimal look, opt for a solid color with either no print or monochromatic bedding. If you prefer a more vibrant and fun look, you can never go wrong with prints.

Fitted sheets or flat sheets

Fitted sheets are an absolute must-have as they give a neat and put-together look. A fitted sheet has elastic sewn into the seams and it goes over your mattress and under the sides of it to keep it in place. It doesn’t move or require frequent fixing which is a great time saver. Flat sheets are tucked neatly into the opposite end of the bed. These are your foundation pieces!

Bedspreads

Next up on our list are bedspreads. This piece goes over your sheets to add an extra layer of comfort. Some may be lightly cushioned for warmth; but it is usually just a thicker fabric. Stitched all around the hem for a neater look! You can choose to drape them right over your mattress if you don’t use bed sheets.

A good quality pillowcase

Pillowcases bring together the whole look of the bed. You can really choose to spice things up by adding contrasting pillowcases or even use matching ones with your sheets. For a more textured look, mix and match different ones to give a cozier and homely feeling. Feel free to add more than two! A few great fabrics for a pillowcase are:

  •       Cotton
  •       Linen
  •       Silk

Duvet covers

Duvet covers usually have loops or some form of closures to seal in your duvets and keep them from getting dirty. As comforters and duvets are expensive and a hassle to wash, these are your lifesavers. The covers not only serve great purpose but they are also a great way to spice up the look of your bed. These are usually available in an abundant range of colors and prints so you can surely find something that fits your vision. From floral to plaid, there’s no end to what you can find. The coverings are detachable and easy to wash or switch out for new ones if you’re bored. You may opt for different fabrics as per your requirements.

A blanket

A blanket provides an additional layer of warmth and comfort to keep you feeling cozy through the cold winter days. Slightly warmer and thicker and a duvet, this handy piece can add texture and style to your room like no other. You may choose a light fluffy one or a chunkier style depending on your mood and the look you are aiming to achieve. Use it as a throw over your bed, add one in a contrasting color, or even a matching one with your sheets in order to give the eye a little more to look at. This layer will bring the whole look together and make you want to stay in your bed all day!
